IoT Chain (ITC) - Why China's answer to IOTA should have a place in your portfolio

In order to understand the value and potential of IoT Chain (ITC), it is important to first delve into a bit of background on the Chinese Internet of Things market, and why DAG networks like ITC are uniquely suited to IoT applications.
China and it’s massive Internet of Things future
China is the undisputed largest Internet of Things market in the world, a market that by 2020 is projected to be worth nearly $1 trillion USD as smart cities, autonomous vehicles, and evolving mobile devices such as wearables increasingly come online in the inevitable march toward an inextricably connected future.
This market is, however, largely untapped as the problem of data/value transfer has been hitherto difficult to approach. Internet of Things applications will rely on instantaneous transactions of miniature values that enable a network of at-home power grids to transact excess solar power, or a smart car to pay a smart meter in real time for its parking (what is paid is thus no more and no less than the exact amount of parking time used).
Blockchain is problematic for approaching these types of nano-transactions because of the lag involved in creating consensus on the network. On a blockchain, many transactions occurring at the same time or in very close sequence will all end up on the same block which will then need to be mined (proof of work). This makes current blockchains very poor at scaling and unable to handle the sheer volume of transactions occurring per second in the very near-future of IoT device connectivity demands. Blockchains are, on the other hand, extremely secure because the consensus they create makes their data immutable, authentic, and distributed.
How does IoT Chain (ITC) solve this problem?
IoT Chain (ITC) is not a pure blockchain network; it is a hybrid network combining blockchain with DAG (Directed Acyclic Graph) subnets. Instead of requiring blocks to be mined for creating consensus around a transaction (proof of work), DAG networks do away with blocks all together and have transactions verify each other, allowing for highly scalable and instant transactions. ITC takes blockchain into a new paradigm by combining the best aspects of hyperledger blockchain & DAG technology (lead ITC developer commenting on this: https://imgur.com/a/NG4aO). The ITC testnet release is due within the next two weeks and will be capable of scaling from 1,000 to 10,000 transactions per second. ITC main-net release is, according to the team, ahead of schedule in Q2 (main net release in April seems very possible). The ITC main net will be capable of scaling up to 100,000 transactions per second. For reference, Ethereum and Bitcoin are capable of between 4 and 15 transactions per second, depending on network congestion.
Because of the security inherent to ITC’s network, it will be virtually impossible for malicious bots to infect IoT networks as recently happened with the Reaper IoT bot. This aspect alone makes a compelling case for the adoption of ITC and gives way to a very high ceiling in terms of market value potential.
Currently, centralized companies mine user data like crude oil which they refine into a profitable (for them) final product, alienating your sovereignty and value in the process. ITC recognizes this and proposes creating a secure operating system for the internet of things wherein users are returned their data sovereignty and the value that is rightfully theirs (see: https://medium.com/@IoT_Chain/iot-chain-itc-return-the-data-sovereignty-to-users-and-create-a-secure-operating-system-for-714ced3d589c).
The ITC token is integral and supports the ecosystem; any value transfer related to the rights of intelligent equipment will be settled with ITC tokens. This means that any and every transaction across the IoT Chain network will require ITC tokens, driving the value of tokens higher as adoption of IoT Chain increases.
Who has invested in IoT Chain (ITC)?
ITC has attracted some of the biggest blockchain funds in Asia as early investors:
What about partnerships and awards?
ITC has several partnerships that are announced, and many more undisclosed partnerships (due to Non-Disclosure Agreements). They are also strongly linked to Cheetah Mobile after the ITC team confirmed they met with Cheetah’s CEO in a private meeting. Cheetah Mobile is a Chinese $2 billion company with 634 million customers.
What is a potential valuation? What is coming up for ITC?
ITC has a current marketcap of about $145 million USD. IOTA by contrast is valued at $7 billion USD. Considering ITC's backing, connections, and position in the world's largest and most profitable Internet of Things market, ITC appears extremely undervalued with great potential as its currently NDA'd partnerships are revealed with the project's progress.

BOJ Kuroda Urges Global Cooperation In Regulating Facebook’s Libra Haruhiko Kuroda, Governor of Bank of Japan (BOJ) said on Sept 24 that international cooperation was crucial in regulating stable coins such as Facebook’s planned Libra digital currency. “If Libra is introduced, it could have a huge impact on society,” Kuroda told business leaders in Osaka, western Japan, adding that policymakers must thus ensure that they apply the highest level of regulation to such stable coins.
Governor Of PBoC: CBDC Not Necessarily Uses Blockchain Technology, No Timetable Scheduled Yet While China is accelerating the development in digital payments, Governor of the People’s Bank of China (PBoC), YI Gang, clarified that although the research team of the central bank backed digital currency (CBDC) is taking blockchain, digital payments, and a range of frontier technologies into consideration, it is uncertain which one or ones will be used at last. Besides, the central bank has never preset a technical route for the CBDC, nor has it made any decisions on a precise timetable for the launch of the CBDC. YI Gang made the remark today on Sept 24 at the press conference for celebration of the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. The press conference focused on the latest ideas to foster a healthy, stable, and sustainable economy in the country. He added that the introduction of CBDC won’t change the current issuance or distribution of currencies. “The goal of the CBDC is to replace part of M0 (money in circulation), not M1 or M2,” he said. The Governor addressed that positive progress has been made in digital currency research. Note: M0 is the total of all physical currency including coinage. M1 money supply includes those monies that are very liquid such as cash, checkable (demand) deposits, and traveler’s checks. M2 money supply is less liquid in nature and includes M1 plus savings and time deposits, certificates of deposits, and money market funds.

BTC completed the downward break of 9890, the key hint of yesterday’s closing, in yesterday’s trading yesterday, and accelerated the downward trend further at night, and achieved the effective arrival of the first support line 9600, which was suggested in yesterday’s closing. Although the price has come out of a certain rebound performance, the actual rebound strength is limited. The forward market still operates in the disadvantaged areas. However, the rebound in early trading seems to be only the technical rebound correction after the first round of decline touches on the clear support position. It is reasonable that the price rebound correction occurs after the serious oversold of short-term indicators is consistent. Therefore, it is not recommended that the current rebound be interpreted excessively as long as the price remains at 98. Running below 90, the short-term downward target of 9400 mentioned in yesterday’s closure is still worth looking forward to. For BTC, the idea of short-term trading follow-up is further simplified. After the first wave of short-term orders landed smoothly, the short-term can continue to use 9890 and 9600 as benchmarks. The price reversal test of 9890 is again frustrated, or it is confirmed that after falling below 9600, a new round of short-term follow-up can be done to catch up with the target of 9400. When 9400 is in place, as long as there is no extreme situation of instantaneous dive breakdown, it is recommended to make profit settlement in time. This position can be used as a reference for strong support of midline level. There is a greater possibility of forming band stop-fall reversal near this area, and it is worth making key observation after it is in place.

Month in Review - January 2018

Crypto moves way too fast for me to keep up, so I started making a list of each day's biggest headline. Below is my list for last month. My main news source was reddit. My main holdings are ETH and NANO, but I tried to make the list as unbiased as possible. Hope you like this, and let me know if you have any feedback!
1/1 – Ethereum releases the Casper proof of stake protocol to its test network. 1/2 – Despite Verge’s claims of concealing users’ IP address info in their Wraith release, a website is discovered which publishes the IP addresses of all Verge transaction participants. 1/3 – Bitcoin celebrates the 9th anniversary of the genesis block. 1/4 – NEO breaks the $100 barrier. 1/5 – Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announces plan to integrate cryptocurrencies into Facebook services. 1/6 – TRON breaks the $10 billion market cap barrier and becomes a top 10 crypto amid accusations of whitepaper plagiarism and fears of the project’s legitimacy. 1/7 – After a 2-week swap, Ethereum retakes the #2 crypto spot from Ripple. 1/8 – Cryptos on South Korea and Chinese exchanges are being traded at over a 50% premium compared to their western counterparts. This causes Coinmarketcap to classify those prices as outliers, and subsequently flash crashes the market. 1/9 – RaiBlocks is officially named the winner of January’s Binance community vote. 1/10 – South Korea proposes legislation to ban crypto trading, flash crashing the market. They roll back the announcement 4 hours later. 1/11 – Moneygram announces a partnership with Ripple in a pilot program for crypto payments. 1/12 - Twitch begins accepting Bitcoin and transfers from Coinbase accounts as means of payment. 1/13 - Walton announces plans to work with China Mobile IoT Alliance on integration. 1/14 - VeChain announces partnership with China’s National Tobacco Corporation and State Tobacco Monopoly Administration. 1/15 - Mark Cuban says that his basketball team the Dallas Mavericks will accept Bitcoin and Ether as payment for tickets next season. 1/16 - Increased concerns over tightened cryptocurrency trading regulations in South Korea, China, and France, as well as calls from Germany for international cooperation to regulate the market, cause prices of top coins to fall 30%. 1/17 - Long suspected of running a Ponzi scheme, BitConnect shuts down both its trading and lending platforms and releases all locked BCC tokens. This causes its price to fall 95%. 1/18 - The South Korean Financial Supervisory Service reports that several government officials were caught insider trading immediately prior to the January 10th crypto exchange ban announcement. 1/19 - ICON partners with Kyber Network with plans to use Kyber’s crypto-exchange services to connect ICON with other blockchains. 1/20 - The National Research Council of Canada says that it is using the Ethereum blockchain to proactively publish research grants. 1/21 - Johann Jungwirth, the chief digital officer of Volkswagen, joins the IOTA Foundation as an advisor. 1/22 - South Korean government officials announce that they plan to collect up to 24.8% in corporate and income taxes from cryptocurrency exchanges based in the country. 1/23 - Online payment toolkit developer Stripe announce in a blog post that they are dropping support for Bitcoin, citing increased transaction times, fees, and price volatility. They also express interest in supporting other cryptocurrencies, including OmiseGo, Ethereum, and Stellar. 1/24 - Rating agency Weiss releases the first ever cryptocurrency ratings for the top 74 coins. Ethereum and EOS receive a B, the highest grade in the first round, with Cardano, NEO, and Steem the next highest with a B-. 1/25 - Popular stock-trading app Robinhood adds support for 16 cryptocurrencies in 5 US states, with Bitcoin and Ethereum the first to be tradeable. 1/26 - Popular Japanese exchange Coincheck gets hacked, resulting in the theft of 526 million XEM ($400 million) and 101 milion XRP ($130 million), the largest crypto theft from an exchange in history. 1/27 - Amid accusations of insolvency, Tether announces that its partnership with auditing firm Friedman LLP has been dissolved. 1/28 - Online South Korean mall 위메프 begins accepting 12 different cryptocurrencies as payment, including Bitcoin, Ether, and Ripple. 1/29 - Walton affiliate Xiamen Citylink signs a research sharing and IoT ecosystem services deal with the Zhangzouh branch of China Telecom Corporation. 1/30 - A Bloomberg article states that Tether was issued a subpoena by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commision in December. This was due to a lack of conclusive evidence that the USD holdings that back the cryptocurrency exist. Bitfinex, the world’s 4th largest exchange by volume and supporter of Tether, was also subpoenaed. 1/31 - RaiBlocks announces that it is rebranding to Nano.

Key market events in December 17-23, 2018
  1. According to the Blockchain Transparency Institute, most exchanges lie about their transaction volumes. The real figure is close to 1% of the number displayed on the CoinMarketCap. Bitfinex and Binance are exceptions, though, of course, many have doubts about Binance.
2.Bloomberg gained access to the financial documentation of Tether Limited, which issues the USDT stablebcoin, and confirmed that almost a year ago, on January 31, 2018, all the coins issued by the company were secured by $2.2 billion.
  1. Payment giant Western Union is about to introduce cryptocurrency transfer services right after the tests are done. However, according to the president of the division of the Global Money Transfer payment system Odilon Almeida, so far the cryptocurrency has not gained wide traction, since it needs to be controlled by the authorities and reduce volatility.
  2. The Reddit user under the nickname sotashi urged Bitcoin owners UTC to withdraw their funds from all exchanges on January 3 at 16:00 to celebrate the decade of Genesis Block, and at the same time to check how many bitcoins are in circulation now and whether all exchanges are truly decentralized.
  3. The Coincheck cryptocurrency exchange, which lost more than $500 million to the hacker attack in January 2018, received an operating license from the Financial Services Agency of Japan after improving service, increasing security and introducing anti-money laundering measures.
  4. An accounting company Grant Thornton LLP conducted a second audit of stablecoin USD Coin (USDC) by Circle and Coinbase, which confirmed it was secured by fiat currency. By the end of November 2018, 177,190,279 USDC were released, and $180,192,792. 7 more remained in the reserves of issuing companies.
  5. Bitcoin network complexity dropped by 10% as the coin value grew, and the miners started earning more on mining this first cryptocurrency.
  6. Coinbase, the largest US exchange, confirmed that it was transferring almost $5 billion in cryptocurrency to a new repository for the cryptoassets of its clients. The total transfer amount included 5% of company’s Bitcoin reserves, 8% of Ethereum stash and 25% of Litecoin.
  7. The analytical company McAfee Labs published a report, which says the number of virus software for hidden mining increased by 4467% in 2018. IoT devices are the main attack vector.
10.Facebook began the development of a stablecoin secured by US dollar for WhatsApp users. The coin would be launched in India, where the messenger has about 200 million active users.
  1. ConsenSys aims to close its startup incubator, which included 36 projects. The company explained that all these startups have not created cost-effective products and are not ready to join the new ConsenSys. Therefore, the number of ConsenSys employees can be reduced by 60%.
  2. The Israeli firm GMT, which has 250 branches and cooperates with MoneyGram, American Express and other financial companies, has joined the RippleNet network.
  3. Wong Ching, a 24-year-old Bitcoin millionaire, decided to raise awareness about the crypto industry in a rather peculiar way - he dropped 100 million Hong Kong dollars (about $12.8 million) from the roof of a high-rise building.
Market analytics from club experts for December 17 - 23, 2018
Surprisingly enough, the last week turned out to be rather joyful and full of festive mood. The price of BTC and altcoins started to grow. The total market capitalization climbed from $103 billion in the beginning of the week to $133 billion.
Trading volumes also showed a good growth - on average roughly $17 billion. The BTC kept dominating the market at 53-54%, falling to 49% only by December 20, when there was a massive increase in altcoin price.
The BTC price climbed from $3276 to $4009 over the week, peaking at $4144.
This week witnessed the historical maximum of BTC trade volume - 2.27 million BTC or $9 billion. The last record was set on December 7, 2017, with almost 2 million BTC.
Moreover, the drop of recent corrections during the weekend was followed by good purchasing volumes.
There are reasons to assume that the buyers have accumulated enough funds and strength, and the reporting periods, together with the u, keep pointing out that the trend is about to change - if not globally, then at least locally. We expect quite a few landmark events in 2019 - the launch of Bakkt is just one of them. The train is about to leave, so hop on!
